  1. ECM P601 Code

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
I was hoping someone has been down this road before, or has some experience with this issue and could shed some light as to a possible solution short of replacing the ECM again. My van is worth $500 for private sale according to Edmunds, and I have $300 into this repair. Is there another area...
  2. ECM P601 Code

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
I did mentioned that the mechanic has already replaced the ECM with a used part and configured it the serial number and milage from the van. Not sure I could go to the mechanic and tell him that someone on the internet told me what he thinks they should do. That kinda defeats the purpose of...
  3. ECM P601 Code

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
My 2000 Plymouth Grand Voyager SE has an engine light on. AutoZone, Pep Boys, and a local mechanic tells me it has a P601 code (the mechanic told me he couldn't communicate with the ECM). I took it to a different mechanic who replaces and resets the ECM. Then tells me to drive it 40 miles for...
  4. Best Muffler Recommendation

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
Just to clarify. Although the muffler was still working, the resonator pipe, where it is attached to the muffler, rusts out and crumbles. Walker warranties the resonators for 90 days. Only Walker mufflers get 3 years. The Walker resonator needs to be replaced every year or so. No where, I can...
  5. Adjusting Headlamps

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
Rock Auto sells the TYC brand. I've heard some good things about them. The headlamps on my car are original. The assembly/top mounting brackets are plastic, old and brittle. The driver side bracket is missing, but the assembly seems in there tight. Maybe a new lamp is the order of the day. I...
  6. Adjusting Headlamps

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
I have 2 repair manuals for my 2000 Voyager. Both say to use the bubble levels on top of the headlamp housing for adjustment. My Voyager does not have these. Is there a way to adjust these lamps without special equipment? Also, I can find adjusters for one direction but not the other. Where can...
  7. Need advice on a headliner kit.

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
I guess you would need re-positional adhesive.
  8. Need advice on a headliner kit.

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
My van is 16 years old and the last model in the 3rd Generation. If the foam backing on my headliner has turned to dust, I'm guessing most of the others out there have as well. Your 2003 is much younger and may even have newer foam backing/fabric products used that are better than the ones...
  9. Need advice on a headliner kit.

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
I was thinking about something like that. Some type of fabric stiffener or sizing. Plasti-dip sounds good. How long did it take for the smell to dissipate?
  10. Need advice on a headliner kit.

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
I've been watching too much Overhaulin and Wheeler Dealer. They make everything look so easy I'd thought I'd give it a try! I don't want anything deluxe. Just want it back to non-hanging in spots. There are some kits out there. I wasn't sure if one was better than the others. R&R looks like a...
  11. Need advice on a headliner kit.

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
Has anyone attempted to; and successfully replaced the headliner on a 2000 or similar Grand Voyager SE? Any advice on products and installation tips would be greatly appreciated.
  12. 2000 Voyager Steering Rack/Alignment

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
I had my car in for an alignment. The mech said I had a loose tie rod and should fix before I align. I'd already replaced the right one. I replaced the left one, and now the mech said it must be an INNER tie rod. I've seen videos on how to replace, but I can get a rebuilt rack with 2 new inners...
  13. Tighten Front End

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
What is the best way to tighten up the front end of a 2000 GV. I have relatively new Strutmaster EZ-Struts and new michelin tires, but I want more responsiveness.
  14. Best Muffler Recommendation

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
Is there a best muffler for a 2000 GV w/3.3? Already tried a Walker that rusted out in 1-1/2 years. OEM is $400+ with resonator. Thanks.
  15. Coolant Reservoir 2000 GV SE

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
I had pitting when I did the water pump a few weeks ago. After cleaning the surfaces, I filled the pitted areas with High-temp Red RTV Silicone Gasket Maker just to make sure the o-ring would have something to seal against.
  16. Coolant Reservoir 2000 GV SE

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
Could be. I'm a little above the max line at cool. The level goes to about 1 inch below the fill neck when hot, so that would be about 1/2 a quart. Don't kill me but I'm trying to stop a leak with Bar's Leaks Complete Cooling System. I just can't afford to replace the Timing chain gasket (or do...
  17. Coolant Reservoir 2000 GV SE

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
While working on my van yesterday, I noticed the coolant reservoir (which was initially filled to the max position while cool) had filled nearly to the top with coolant as my van sat there running at idle. Is this a normal function of the reservoir? I AM having leak issues, but I've never...
  18. Leaky Water Pump Seal

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
I'm in New Jersey. Here they wanted almost $1000 just to do the Steering Pump. I might call Chip Foose at Overhaulin to do this job!!
  19. Leaky Water Pump Seal

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
I just replaced the steering pump. That was enough up close and personal for me for a while.
  20. Leaky Water Pump Seal

    3rd Generation Chrysler Minivans: 1996-2000
How do you know? Also, I'm freaking out about it maybe being "freeze Plugs". It could be near the thermostat. AND I had a mechanic some years back plug off some heating manifold that brought heat to the rear of the van that supposedly "disintegrated" while they were working on it. sigh.
