Trying to determine the best option for HD front brake rotor/pad replacement. Has anyone used this kit from RockAuto that can speak to it? If there are other recommendations, I'm all ears.

Mass is important to handle heat. Holes = less mass. Holes can put you in the hole. :)

But better airflow and shedding unwanted material have benefits that shine under different conditions. For typical cars, it's really just a cosmetic difference.

Heavy duty combos (towing/commercial use) typically include solid rotors and semi-metallic pads. Personally I think ceramic pads kill most rotors early, especially on the front.

I routinely use the Z23 pads as replacements w/ no complaints. They are very low-dust in my applications, which I like. The drilled/slotted rotors are nothing but a gimmick - on a minivan, anyway. Pick a nice set of Raybestos rotors and you'll be fine (and keep more money in your pocket).
