Hi, long time listener, first time caller.

Our 2012 T&C recently took a union break. The codes pulled pointed to throttle pedal assembly, crank position sensor, and P0642.

We replace the CPS and pedal assembly anthe the van was normal for about three week, then failed to limp mode and threw the similar codes pointing to the same components.

Anyone ever have experience this?

We are between bandaiding and trading off or touching for insurance.

Any guidance is appreciated.

This is a possibly helpful tidbit taken form another current thread, Sienile is the "Caravan whisperer" IMO.
The TIPM does fail on a lot of people in some way or another. Mine had the fuel pump relay problem, but thankfully nothing more serious. I was running the next day for less than $10, which ended up biting me in the ass years later when the cheap relay and fuse holder I used burnt up (replaced with better $15 stuff).

PCM problems do seem a bit high on these, but not to the degree of the TIPM issues. Dodge has always been on the low end of PCM longevity. Across all years I've replaced more Dodge PCMs than all other brands combined, excluding Chevy. (Chevy's a close 2nd) Many of those were A/C compressor circuit failures and not crippling issues. I have yet to see, in person, a current gen Dodge with a PCM issue, though I've heard of a few on here. Newest was a '07 or '08 Pacifica with the typical A/C circuit issue.

Well, the manual doesn't have any sure-fire fix, but several possibilities.

DTC: P0642

Symptom Descriptor: Sensor Reference Voltage 1 Circuit Low

Probable Causes:
5-Volt Supply Shorted to Ground
A/C Pressure Transducer
Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APPS)
Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor
Oil Pressure Sensor (OPS)
Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
Throttle Body Assembly
Could be as simple as a chaffed wire shorting out. Here's the diagnostic procedure for that code.

Thanks to both. It has the fuel circuit problem. We did the add a circuit jumper to the rear accessory to get key on and off power to the fuel pump.

There's TSBs on how to fix that on the Vertical Visions site. It involves wiring in an external fuse and relay. That way you keep it functioning as it should and not all the time the key is turned. Especially important in a crash.

I skimmed the TSB on my phone and saw some of the codes in it when the pcm is bad. Is that how it read to to you Sienile?

Going to read it in more detail now.

Also, does a company sell new or refurb tipm and PCM's?

It's not looking too good. PCM is a possibility, but all of these codes deal with the 5V circuit that the sensors use. I would check the wiring very carefully first. You should do the 5V diagnostics in the last pdf I uploaded before jumping to a new PCM. If it's a wiring issue a PCM will be a waste.

Yeah, it's a laundry list for sure. I tinkered with the pcm connections and unplugged, and reconnected the pedal switch, oil pressure and crank sensor before it got dark. I may have to send it to the dealer for a the 5v inspection. The tsb read to put a tool in line between the pcm connectors to test.

This is a good site to search for codes:


Search for your code and you'll find all the info you need.

No one here knows all the codes, but once you find the problematic circuit, someone here with experience might help you to pinpoint the problem.

Sometimes is not easy as codes are there to guide you in the right direction but not to provide you with the exact answer to your problem.

While it's not ideal, you can do the measurements from any of the affected sensors to the others. The test tool just makes it possible to test at the PCM while it's connected.

How old is the battery and what condition is it in? A weak/failing battery will cause a low voltage conditions and the computer modules and sensors do not tolerate a low voltage condition. Also check your battery terminals and engine/body grounds for corrosion as they will also cause a low voltage condition.
