Hey, the GF has a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan that currently has 145k miles. When on the highway at cruising speed if you go to pass and mash the throttle it drops a gear (to 5th i believe) and just revs out as if it where slipping. However it doesn't pull at all even intermittently as a slip would. Its like its revving out to 4k in 5th gear and coasting. Ive read on here and came up with TCC solenoid. What is your guys take and ideas? I do have a scan tool (obd2 usb + diagFCA). Do I need to scan it pull live data from a drive? I appreciate the heads up.

Also ive flushed this transmission filter and fluid 2 times, 1st at 90k 2nd at 130k. Always change oil at 5k miles or 4 months, use chevron injector cleaner. Trying to keep it mechanically happy.

Thanks Nick

What happens next? Have to stop? turn off engine? restart?
Limp mode protecting the transmission from damage, possibly? Sounds like limp mode.
Any banging noises? Any banging noise before the power loss?
Check out issues with the compounder? That's a common shifting problem.

It seems to just be an issue with dropping a gear to pass at highway speeds. If you ease in on the accelerator it will gradually speed up still. Comes to a stop and downshift as its supposed to. No banging noises, just drops a gear to 5th and will sit revving at 4 or 5k coasting. From a stop it starts in 1st and goes threw the gears as well. I will check out the article on the compounder. Thank you

I did get a data log from a drive, I have to figure out how to load it up and read it. i use App DiagFCA
