I changed my motor oil and filter today on my 2019 Grand Caravan and was only able to add 5 quarts of oil to the engine and dipstick showed full. The manual says 6 quarts. ( i ran it for awhile and rechecked the oil level) dipstick still says full with 5 quarts. i dont want to overfill it. i poured the old used oil back into the bottle and it had nearly 5 quarts in it. Anyone else experience this ?

Don't do that too often or you will be over full.
Does your vehicle sound like a diesel sometimes?
Well the next time a van like ours come in for an lof with a 3.6 im going to pay real close attention and document 5 qts and 5.9 qts on the stick for the heck of it . 😆 just so i realize im not going crazy 😆

Just checked the dipstick. Will have to research it.Dipstick measurements per my 2016 DGC:
From collar to end of dipstick: 261/4"+
From collar to top of crosshatched range: 24"
Elevation of collar, while in the tube, is about the same as the ridge on the oil filler tube.
The product # 5184013AI is on the dipstick.
Hope this helps solve the mystery.
I wonder why they specify 6 quarts, instead of 5, anyway. Must be for off-roading

I find with some cars I can't get a very good reading on my driveway, which is on about a 2% incline. It depends on whether the dipstick is going into the middle of the sump, or at the end. With the 3.6L, I just add the specified amount of oil and don't bother with the dipstick.

Didn't have time to measure it yet. Any idea what these other numbers mean on the dipstick?
(not sure what the secondary numbers on it mean (21074 2)
My 2019 DGC has this same dipstick. Same numbers exactly! 23 7/8" from collar to Full line at top of cross-hatch area.

Just wondering…Do you add 5 quarts or 6 quarts when changing ur oil ?
I had the oil changed once so far, at the Dodge dealer. They put in the full 6 qts that I gave them to do the change. That put the oil level about 1/8" to 1/4" above the "Full" line, which is higher than I like.
I intend to do the oil changes going forward, as I have done with all previous vehicles I've owned. I intend to add 5.5 qts. per oil change. My van doesn't noticeably lose oil level between changes.
What are you calling the full line ?
I changed my oil Friday evening on my 2014 TC. I let it drain for 2-3 hours while doing something else. Even though there was an unspent drip on the pan, I noticed there was no oil actively dripping from the pan when I re-installed the drain plug.
I refilled the van with (1) 5qt and (1) 1qt container of Mobil 1. I let the van sit overnight and checked it first thing Saturday morning. The oil level was perfectly at the high end of the "Safe" section.
I know -- Mobil doesn't have the proper certification(s) and isn't blessed by Chrysler to run in the 3.6. Excuse my lubricity faux-paux. Nevertheless, I figure there's no reason to change after running synthetic Mobil 1 in it for 185k miles. Whatever badness is going to set in from running uncertified oil has already taken hold.

If motor oil isn't on sale, at a roll back price, or at an everyday low price, don't buy it. Find something that is. Mobil 1 is no exception there either.
No special ingredients in Mobil 1, if fact, they are willfully missing a few, apparently.
Pennzoil is probably the best synthetic oil but I stick with Valvoline Daily protection 5W-30 conventional with a bit of that marvelous synthetic stuff in it. It's often on sale at Walmart, just bought a couple of jugs.
