Brake pad installation, difficult clips

I've ran into a lot of pads that were made too big for the bracket and required a bit of filing to move as they should. The pads up front are not at all hard to change. No reason to take the brackets off up front.

Sometimes, a little smoothing out with a grinder will make life easier.
Well, you don't want to remove too much, otherwise you'll have the pads rattling around side-to-side. Since he mentions rust, I'd go with a wire wheel on the brackets first.

Back up onto a parking curb and hop under to loosen an re-tighten them. They will rip the bushings a lot faster bolted down in a non-loaded position.

Rust expands and raises the surface of the part.
