The vehicle is a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan with a 3.8L engine and 220,000 miles on it. All of a sudden I cannot shift into Park or Neutral. It just skips those settings on the indicator, so it cannot be started.

Does anyone have any experience with this type of problem that they can share? Any advice would be appreciated.

Check the BTSI solenoid. It's the device that is activated when you place your foot on the brake to allow a person to move the gear selector lever. There is an over-ride on the device, BUT be warned, out of habit, still put your foot on the break before gear selecting, else the van will lunge backwards and then forwards in a jerking way.

This became some sort of standard FMVSS requirement since the early 80s.

Go to this thread on how to fix it.
