Premier of Nova Scotia Stephen McNeil has declared a state of emergency for the province due to the spread of COVID-19.
The province will be limiting gatherings to no more than five people.
Police will now be asked to enforce self-isolation and social distancing through the public health office.

More to the point, the Premier was pissed about the public going to the dog parks and sand beaches yesterday and showing no respect for the social distancing rule or for the Police trying to disperse the crowds. So now we are stuck with public park closures and checks/restrictions at the border with New Brunswick. If a guy in Nova Scotia has a girlfriend across the border in New Brunswick, he won't be seeing her for a while. :)

That's why the state of emergency was invoked. Yahoos, lacking in common sense, caused it.

WOW! It's a big city and prone to an epidemic. Social distancing is likely hard to enforce. What will the military actually do? Catch the virus? This is uncharted territory. Scary.

Yes, very scary.

Military is meant to be used against foreign enemy, not against our own people.

They might be expecting mass disturbs.

Likely to help facilitate "social distancing".

The confirmed cases in Nova Scotia so far are connected to foreign travel. One had returned from Spain on a plane full of others. How many covid 19 tentacles were there on that plane?

I am still wondering how are they enforcing it? So many tiny local roads to avoid the main highways... roadblocks on every road? Are they stopping every car and ask for an ID? Not all IDs have an address... for example a passport.

North America is connected to our great Province by an Isthmus, the Chignecto Isthmus, consisting mostly of marches, known as the Tantramar Marshes. There's a main highway and a railway plus a road along the east coast, and that's about it.

With the oceans rising, Nova Scotia could be an island fairly quickly.

They are not restricting truck traffic, they are mainly looking for non-essential travel, like to go to beaches or getting gas on the cheaper side of the border. :)

I was talking about crossing to/from New Brunswick!

Coronavirus, all done by Easter?

Still a lot of planes in the US air space, helping to spread the virus, take a look at this picture:

All cases in Nova Scotia so far are related to travel.
As of today, March 24, Nova Scotia has 51 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Ten new cases were identified Monday, March 23. The cases are travel-related or connected to earlier reported cases. Several of the new cases are connected to groups or families who have returned to Nova Scotia following travel outside of Canada. None of these cases are from spread within the community.

Everything is going to change in the next couple of days.

We need the oilfield business back ASAP.

Texas alone was producing more oil than Saudi Arabia and Russia.

They didn't like it and killed our oil production, we are coming back even stronger.

But need everybody back ASAP.

Some prople are happy to see cheap gas prices. What they don't understand is, it can be really cheap, but if you don't have money to buy it....

When gas prices reach the $3.00 USD/Gal. again, I will be very happy, everybody should.

If you have money to pay $3.00+/Gal. then you should be happy.

What is Texas without oil? What else do you have down there for industry? Canada's economy is very dependent on oil too.
We also have cattle.

Don't know if you have WENDY'S burguers up there, if you do, they are liars:

Wendy’s is proud to serve fresh, never frozen North American beef in North American restaurants (excluding Hawaii), which represent 95% of our total operational footprint.

You can not buy "never frozen" beef in USA (if inspected by USDA).

Once a cow(or bull) is slaughtered and skinned, it has to be frozen before it is further processed, USDA inspectors (United States Department of Agriculture) will not allow it to be processed until it reaches certain temperature, usually overnight.

Anyways, we do raise cattle, and also have some of the bigger slaughter houses in USA.

We do have Wendy's here, associated with Tim Hortons at one time, but no more.
What does Burger King see in Tim Hortons that Wendy’s didn’t?

Maybe the initial chilling, for processing, doesn't count as frozen, frozen.

Probably, but more likely they meant never frozen after meat is grind.

Hamburger meat is made of leftovers, workers use a tool called whizard knife to clean the bones out of the every piece of meat left. Good cuts are never used for ground meat (not at the slaughter house).
