The catalogs show different options for the 2008, 2009, and 2010 4.0 engines.
The 2008 calls for a larger filter.
2009 uses a smaller filter and larger metric threads but why did they do that?
2010 lists the 2009 filter but also shows an option for a standard thread that looks the same as the 2008 threads. Both are smaller than the 2008 filter. Can the 2010 with the standard threads use the larger 2008 filter as an improvement?

2008
FRAM PH16,
WIX 51085,
MOBIL M1204A

2009 metric threads

The Mickey Mouse FRAM PH3614 was a replacement for the FRAM PH16 (larger), which was a replacement for the FRAM PH8A (even larger).

Many used the PH8A size oil filter on the 4th Generations, where either the PH16 or PH3614 were specified. I used the PH8A size filters consistently on my 2007 DGC that specified the PH3614 size. I also used the PH8A size filters consistently on my 2002 DGC that specified the PH16 size.

Just clean up the mounting surface a bit to accommodate a very slightly larger diameter gasket and go for the larger filter as long as there's sufficient clearance to install and operate it.

Another option is the PH3600 filter, which is the small diameter like the 3614, but longer like the PH8A.

There is not much room around the filter but it looks like the PH8 should work because it is only slightly larger than the PH16. It is worth a try. I only bought the 16 because I was oil shopping with free STP filters and only the 16 was made in the USA and their 8 was made in China. I avoid STP filters now since most are Chinese.

The business end of the STP filters here looked FRAM PHish, but I haven't checked lately. Champion may make STP as well.

The FRAM Ultra XG 11665 for my 2016 DGC is made in Korea. It's a high quality filter for efficiency and dirt holding.
