Hi, I have the 2008 Dodge caravan SE 3.3l
I got an error with the ABS/pump
The codes were C2200 ECU internal error and C2205 SAS internal error
The ABS lamp, Brake, the slip control and the ESP/BAS came on.

The mechanic got a replacment (USED) ABS and the brake pump that is mounted
behind the Module. He bleed the brakes and started it up then took it for a ride.
When he got back, the ABS lamp and Brake lamp were out.
The other two were still on the ESP/BAS and the slip lamp were still on.
The only code that came up is C2202 Original VIN Mismatch / Mmissing.

I was told the replacement could not be flashed with my VIN, then told by another
dealer that it can. Then told reflashing can distroy the computer and take out all
other Module's
The van drives fine. I am going to the dealer friday to be re-flashed.

Can the ABS be re-flashed. The service mgr said the tech will know before he does
it. Can someone please give me some advice.
Thank you.

I didn't get the ABS flashed because the "dealer" told me it might wipe out the computer $3000.00 to replace and still have the ABS with the missing VIN mismatch error. Another dealer said no way that can happen. My Mechanic of 30 years told me he has never he has sent many people for a re-flash without any problems. I can't get any help here.So in 3 months I drive it to the junk yard loaded with new parts. Thanks for the help. Right

I have the exactly the same issue ......with ABS codes for internal computer error , erratic sensor data etc......yeah it's annoying to see the yellow lights on the dashboard ......but....I'm not spending 2-3 thousand dollars to fix it ...and I'm not going to junk a good van .......plenty of old cars DO NOT have ABS ....and Dodge can drive and STOP perfectly fine without ABS . just be careful on wet or icy roads.

Brake system works even if ABS unit is malfunctioning as I understand it's a "pass trough" unit. even when OFF brake fluid still passes trough normally , and you can bleed your brake lines normally stop normally . you just don't have the ABS benefit when stopping. Well neither did our grandfathers ....and they did fine -)

Thank you for answering my post. I've put a lot of money in this only not to pass inspection in January then drive it to the junk yard with over $8600.00 in fixed items, trans, lower intake manifold, radiator, brakes, alt. the list goes on. I can't find a new ABS module. I don't need the unit that that is mounted behind where the brake lines are hooked to. I was told dorman has them but when I go looking, out of stock. My van drives fine, Like many of you out here learned to drive without ABS, I just can't afford a new car/van I'm almost seventy and have family rely on me. This will hit me hard after I give the keys to the junk yard.

Not a 100% sure but when they do inspection , they hook up the computer to DMV and check for Emmisions and Check Engine lights.....ABS is NOT included and you can still pass and drive it fine !!!! The ABS computer is different from the Car computer " ECM" ..... And also...you can check junkyard for a used ABS unit....if your mechanic is confident that will solve the issue.

Hi and thank you. I got another complete unit from the junk yard. and my mechanic said not to buy a new one so I got it from the junk yard and he installed it. I still have the original unit and the part that's behind the module behind it where the brake lines are. The codes in the original were C2200 ECU internal error and C2205 SAS internal error. The Mechanic said it was junk. What I did was hit the gas on ice and the lite came on. It also came on other times but went off days later. When the lights came on they were the ABS, Brake, esp/bas and the skid control. When he installed the junk yard replacement, ABS with the brake unit behind it, the ABS and BRAKE went out but the esp/bas and skit is still on. The van drives fine. Your message gave me hope and thank you as everyone else who replied!

The ride I have has more new parts installed. I was told with the slip lamp is on, it will NOT pass safety part of the inspection.
There is a buttom on/ off for the traction control. That doesn't turn the swirvy light off? It used to do it on mine.
All 3 would come on and I can turn the " swirvy car" ( traction control ) off with the button.

Hi. Yes, I have the on/off and I turn it off. when I turn the van off and restart, it comes back on. so I push the button twice and it goes off.

I don't know what state are you in , but in New York they don't care about ABS or traction control.
As long as the check engine light is not on , the rest of the lights don't matter. No bald tires or completely worn down brakes - you pass inspection. Most shops just hook computer to the DMV and give you the inspection sticker. They don't even check tires or brakes.
Find a smaller shop that doesn't give a " hoot" , you'll pass.
