Early symptoms of failure? 62TE

Transmission shudders in reverse, seems to slip through 3rd into 4th gear unless I go heavy on accelerator into shift, then it holds.
Banged hard into drive last week, then drove normally.
No codes at dealer (or on self scan/dash), total filter & fluid change.
Endurance supreme coverage on any mechanical failures etc. I know it excludes some tranny parts.
Driven 3k since purchase. Today went nowhere after shifting into drive after long idling in park. Turned off van, restarted, all was fine.
Any input is helpful. Temp runs around 185 coolant & oil, I think. Will check again.

Are they the NGKs with the 60 day warranty? :) Nothing wrong with NGK spark plugs except the Company doesn't stand behind them warranty wise. Something's fishy there. They aren't telling us. Denso is one better = no warranty. Even SKP and Bosh have a 12 month warranty. Mopar has 24 months. Whoopee. Split peas for split pea soup last longer than that - used some this week with a best before date of July, 2019. The soup is good though. :)

The OE spark plugs in the 4th Generation and the 5th Generation were Champions - tried and proven beyond a doubt.

We've had this discussion, warranty means very little when the part that's holding it is subpar. Someone puts ot much stake in buying subpar products and needing a warranty than buying something quality so they don't have to worry about it.

Funny that the "Mopar coils" list 24 months when the Mopar coils are Denso...

Same person who changes their oil but doesn't change the filter.... Much like cleaning your child's poopy butt just to put the poop diaper back on them..

We run 80-100k on the ngk without issue. Usually gap is starting to erode and measures .045-.050” at that interval.
The champions are always eroded to well over .060” gap when they’re swapped out at 50-60k.
Any pentastar we’ve owned has been the same case, 50-60k mild miss sitting at stoplights. Pull plugs, eroded to over .060” gap.

it’s okay to swear by crap, plenty of people don’t know better and they’ll all throw their bs to defend it.

Bosch has been OEM from the start until now as far as I'm aware. They all have the Bosch logo right below the Chrysler logo. Denso isn't the only one slapping QRs on parts.

Now the Pacifica coils might be Denso, but the numbering is very similar to the ones for the gen 1 and 2 that carry the Bosch logo. And it's also made in Brazil.

Bro, we’ve swapped the coils on all of them. They’ve all been mopar stamped denso coils.

Don’t try to be cheap on these vans.
Learn what oem parts were cheaped out on so you know what needs to be upgraded.

Everybody has an opinion BUT Champion 9407s, being OE, are the most tried and proven spark plug in the 3.6L engine, just as the Champion double platinum were for the 4th Generation.

7 year warranty for Champion Iridium vs 60 days for NGK Iridium. According to a NGK article, most NGK failures are due to under/over torquing. NGK needs to explain their warranty.

AUTOLITE XP5701 Iridium XP has a long warranty as well. Mopar Iridium has 24 months. Denso has no warranty. They should explain.

Oh... A GM guy. No wonder you don't know quality brands. :p Get rid of that Cruze before the turbo goes, BTW. That's by far the worst 4 cylinder engine GM has made. (This from a guy with a Cavalier that munches cams.)

Denso has been around for a LONG LONG time. You'd be hard pressed to find an electrical component on a Toyota without a Denso stamp on them. Honda has used them for a long while too, but they like to mix it up with other brands as well.

90k -0 repairs on Cruze. Look @ those rims! 🤣🤣 So far nice cheap ride for our last 6years. Even boasted 60.8mpg on Lake Erie trip, fully loaded with family n bags. Calculated after fill-up bc I didn't trust tripometer for that. 30/40mpg otherwise.
Nice doing all my own work on it from the beginning..

Anyway, just scooped the champion at O'Reilly's.

Parked flat to check trans fluid, make sure dealer didn't under/overfill @ all.

90k -0 repairs on Cruze. Look @ those rims! 🤣🤣 So far nice cheap ride for our last 6years. Even boasted 60.8mpg on Lake Erie trip, fully loaded with family n bags. Calculated after fill-up bc I didn't trust tripometer for that. 30/40mpg otherwise.

Do you have a way to check fluid temp? Do you have the temp/level chart? You really need both to check the fluid level accurately.
I have used many different manufacturers spark plugs and I don’t really remember having trouble with any of them. I never knew spark plugs had/needed a warranty until I saw @Jeepman posts. But like most things people have their favorites for one reason or another.
A measure of clutch pack health is CVI - clutch volume index. It is a measure of how much fluid it takes/how long it takes for the specific clutch to properly engage. Many hand held scanners do not pull these values. I do know appcar-diagFCA does and have not looked at alphaOBD for CVI's so I do not know if it pulls them. Acceptable CVI's for each clutch pack vary and are noted as a range of values. The higher in the range, the higher the clutch pack wear.

Sorry, but you have clearly forgotten about the Vega, an unsleeved aluminium engine running alumnium pistons.
40k was good engine life for those. Went through several. It was actually improved when they went to the Chevette.

I tend to see turbo and head failures right around 110k. Most recent ones I remember was one with 112k and an Encore (exact same engine) with 114k. And another customer with a Spark (non-turbo version of engine) got rid of it when we found the heads were blown at 124k. GM really built them to last the warrantied mileage and that's about it. Just beware, the end of its trouble free life is very near.
We have 3 guys at work with 1.4L Turbo GMs, 210k, 235k, 302k.
Outside of head gaskets failing around 120k, they've been bulletproof little cars for them.
Then again, they're all above average owners, so their cars are taken care of.

I think they're like anything else, entirely tied to the type of owner they have, much like our vans are.
