Now that 5th gen ('08) vans are starting to show up in the yard, has anyone ever consider/measure/attempt to put the middle row Stow captain seats from 5th gen into 4th?

bettes, you have it backwards - 4th gen Stow seats are less comfortable than those of 5th gen (gen4 was the first attempt at Stow concept, thus gen5 is step forward not back)
Stow'nGo = Fold in floor (seats that fold flat in floor cavity and don't require their removal from van for cargo carrying..)

Front passenger seat contains OCM (occupant classification module) so 5th gen almost certainly won't mesh with 4th gen SRS..
Driver's seat may contain side impact airbag (for early 4th gen), otherwise it should be modifiable even if you had to re-drill the base.

There are pros/cons of 4th & 5th gen seats, at least the ones I know of.
  • 4th gen 2nd row bench seating has more padding. The head rest is alright.
  • 5th gen 2nd row captains chair are wide, has heated seat, yet too stiff and too uncomfortable for long rides.

FWIW, I never did the measuring of stow pans or folded seats to check for fit or interchangeability between 4th and 5th gen stow captain chairs.
