I just bought a 2015 Town and COuntry minivan for my whitewater kayaking car for our family and need to stack 4-5 kayaks on my roof. I did not check to make sure my racks would be compatible before buying and now stuck. Has any taken their racks off to install a rack system like Thule that can hold more on the roof?

There are a few people with custom racks, but I think they're all on older models. 5th gen roof racks are different from all the older models.

Thule makes lots of stuff. What is the model that you have?

I have a 2015 town and country mini van with factory installed racks. Thule or anyone else does not have a system for me to use with the factory installed rack, that is why I am asking if I can take it off, if it will leak, ect and if I then install Thule for the 2015 town and country minivan with no racks, will it fit?

I looked at the 2 different Thule racks for ours, both mount up similar to the other. They grab on to the edges of the roof around the doors. I don't see why they won't fit on ones with the factory roof rack... unless they don't have much lift and would touch the top of the side rails.

But here's the kicker... Both of the Thule racks have a weight limit of 88 lbs. The factory rack has a limit of 150 lbs. You will not gain weight capacity with those racks. Unless you plan on buying several of those rack kits, you're probably better off getting a hitch and trailer.
