This has probably been discussed, but with 471 posts returned on the search I did on this forum, it could be in any of them. So I'll ask a fresh question.

I had the tranny on my '96 3.8L rebuilt two years ago.

The manual says change the filter/fluid at 15K miles, but is that different with the more modern ATF4 fluid?

How often should the filter/fluid be changed? It occasionally downshifts rough but otherwise works well.

Hmmm, the manual on my 1998 and 1999 vans all said/says 30,000 miles for fluid service. That said, even though the rebuilt transmissions are now compliant with ATF+4, the original servicing requirements stand.

It may be 30K miles for the '96, too. I was writing from memory without reading the manual.
