Hi all I'm trying to help out my grandfather fox his can it's a 97 dodge caravan 3.0, 4 cylinder. It refuses to idle you can start it but to keep it running you have to give it some gas, what are your thoughts on what it can be I have checked spark plugs, the air filter, I have checked injectors and I am stumped Any help would be appreciated

3.0 is a V6.

EGR valve, dirty throttle body and O2 sensor can cause these problems.

Bad distributor can also cause poor idle. When was the last time it had a complete tune up? Is there a check engine light on?

Good news all, I took a good look at the engine and found a tube that goes into the top of the engine that appears to have separated, the tube runs from the top (right hand side) corner of the engine and runs to the bottom I'm guessing to the water pump but I can't be sure if that's where it runs anyway I'm guessing this is the problem.
