I have a 2014 T&C 30th Anniversary that I've owned for six months with 106K miles on it. I've recently been getting a CEL with a P0198 - Engine Oil Temperature (EOT) Sensor High code. No other codes or symptoms. The minivan seems to be running fine.

I've cleared the code a few times and the code eventually returned. Sometimes the code will trigger when I've only driven a few miles. Sometimes it takes a few days to return.

I ran Appcar DiagFCA when the car was cold, then let it warm up. The sensor started out at ambient temperature and slowly climbed.

I'm leaning toward changing the sensor thinking it might be flakey. It appears it's on the oil cooler so I'll have to pull off both upper and lower intakes.

Before I proceed, I'd like to hear from folks more knowledgeable than I am.

Opinions?

Thanks

Oil temp sensor is the top one on the cooler... the one that tends to stick and spin inside the housing... ruining the whole thing.

If you still have the plastic housing, it's a good time to upgrade to metal. The Dormans seem to be out of stock, but SKP has good looking ones out now.

Thanks for the response. I have two 2014 T&Cs I purchased used and this one does have the aluminum oil filter cooler in it. No idea if it's a Dorman or one of those cheap ones on Amazon.

I was able to stick my hand in under the lower intake on the right and unplug the sensor and plug it back in. The error hasn't returned in four days. While I had the connector unplugged I put a six sided socket on the sensor and I'm fairly sure I could replace it without taking everything apart. If it comes to it, I'll just have to make sure I have everything ready to take it all apart if it doesn't work out.

My other 2014 has an on again-off again slow leak from the cooler. I took your advise and ordered a Dorman from Amazon for delivery the first week of May, which is when I was planning on being back to work on it.
