We have a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country (169,000 miles) which now need a new transmission. We have a Lifetime Powertrain warranty and brought it to the dealer. Dealer have had our van for 5 weeks waiting for approval from Chrysler, said there was nothing they can do but wait. Now they say Chrysler wants electronic images of the transmission to see if there was neglect, dealer said we'd have to pay over $600 for these images

First of all I feel like it's costing us $600 to help them to find a reason to deny the claim. Second the dealer said they also may deny it because the cost of the transmission will exceed the value of the van. From what I can see there is no mention of the value of the repair exceeding the value of the vehicle in the actual factory warranty. I feel if they want to buy out the van then that is not honoring a LIFETIME WARRANTY because they are deciding the end the lifetime of the vehicle.

Has anyone had any experience with this. It is impossible to get anyone on the phone at Chrysler except low level customer service agents who do not know anything and cannot transfer you to any supervisors. The best they can do is send a message for a call back but no one every calls back. So frustrated with this whole experience that we will never purchase a Chrysler again.
We have a 2008 Chrysler Pacifica (230000 miles) - have Chrysler's Lifetime Power Train Warranty motor was running but dashboard had engine light miss on #5. Took it in, the dealer tried to fix it but finally said it needs a new motor but they don't have one. Sorry, we can't fix this, here is low-ball offer instead (started at $1000 finally $4000). If you don't like it, come get your car pay the bill and you can go. File 2 claims with Chrysler, they said there was nothing they could do since the part is not available. Again not my problem, they could rebuild mine or purchase a rebuild motor, which is in the Warranty options but they said it would cost to much. I am looking for class action to sign up with but can't find one. I had all my inspections completed on time and acceptable. They just choose not to honor the warranty.

As the life of products run out for Chrysler's older units, so will the Lifetime Power Train Coverage. We have, soon to be had a 2008 Chrysler Pacifica - have Chrysler's Lifetime Power Train Warranty motor was running but dashboard had miss on #5. Took it in, the dealer says it needs a new motor but they don't have one. We can't use a remanufactured because Chrysler does not do this and we can't use another source. Sorry, we can't fix this, here is low-ball offer instead ($1000 which finally became $4000 after we kept pushing). Finally, they said if you don't like it, come get your car pay the bill and you can go. File 2 claims with Chrysler, they said there was nothing they could do. The third claim closed within 2 days because they didn't want to deal with it. I was even cordial, nice, etc. I have all my evidence, found a remanufacturing companies as options but they would not budge. I did find a motor in Florida but they refused to call until they final agreed and by that time it was gone. They are just playing games with your time and money. You can be persistent but more and more cases will be buyouts because they aren't making parts any more for the older models. The lifetime power train warranty is suppose to go to 2085 or something like that but no way will they honor it for another 5 years, I bet.

When a manufacturer determines that a vehicles lifetime is over, that's it for warranties. Not long ago a warranty rep told me that they would not help me solve the problem with my Subaru engine that they ruined 13k miles earlier because the vehicle had "surpassed it's expected service life" . He told me "I'm afraid you're on your own now". My 6 year old, 138k mile BRZ turned into a good looking lump in the driveway until I finally unloaded it because engines were more than the car was worth at the time due to how many they ruined with a bullshit recall.
