Hello all,

I have installed full LED lights all over my van, inside and out. The problem I am having is hyperflash. I already have a set of four load resistors to fix them, but the wiring is the problem.

There are 3 wires; One black, one white with a green stripe, and one white with a red stripe. I know the black is ground, but I am having trouble with the other two.

Which wire controls the turn signal and which wire controls the park/ brake light?

Thanks!

If you have a test light or voltmeter you can (carefully) poke a straight pin into one of the wires to see if it's the one powering your turn signal.

@boston: Not usually possible on the newest cars, because that kind of thing is controlled by the BCM these days. In such a case, there is no flasher unit. Even on some cars that do have a flasher unit, said flasher unit is proprietary and not universal. Universal ones from the store can only be used in cars that have that kind of universal flasher. That's older cars.
@nvbeepat: If you don't have a tester or know how, I can do it for you tonight.

It's difficult to get an led bulb that's brighter than the incandescent, unless you spring for the $20 ones.

On my Impala I got the same incandescent bulb but with a blue tint, like a Silverstar ultra style colour. When it's on it is a nice cool white. Not as blue as the blue tint on it would lead you to believe, just cool white. Makes the regular one look like pee yellow. it might be a bit brighter, or just looks like it due to the colour. I got it on ebay because I couldn't find it anywhere, not Canadian tire, nothing. In the ebay listing they like to use the term HID, and that was used in the listing for what I got, but they just mean the colour mimics HIDs. I think for that bulb, there's only one wattage. I think the bulb number would be different if it were a higher wattage.

Yeah, I am willing to spend on the good ones, our current place has a driveway that you have to back in and requires some navigating around obstacles, so I would honestly stick HIDs in there if I could. Was planning on vleds.com Tritons - but unsure what the bulb type is back there? 3157?

The reversing light? 3156. Sylvania's guide says 3157 but that has to be wrong. I vane never seen a 2 filament bulb used in a backup light, or anywhere only one intensity is ever seen. When mine burnt out, I didn't look it up, I just replaced with what the bulb was. it has just one filament. why would ther ebe 2? Sylvania doesn't usually make mistakes but there it its. Anyway, you can also put a 3056 anywhere a 3156 goes.

Sylvania's guide is correct. The 3157 is the correct bulb for both the 2008 and the 2013 (see manual pages below), it has two filaments and both filaments are illuminated when the backup lights are on for more light output.

OK I stand corrected. I used to think of that years ago, but no car company did it. I figured they had a reason not to. I think it's unusual.

nvbeepat, looks like you thread got hijacked...below is a picture of the resistor on the brake light/signal bulb of my Routan. I don't have any warnings or dash lights and no hyper flashing either. Ground (black with yellow stripe) to the white with green stripe is how the resistor wired. Also here is a link to these LED lights actually working in direct sunlight:

I would also like to know if you have to do this on all 4 corners or is 1 per side sufficient?

To avoid a bulb out warning and hyper-flashing you will need a resistor at each bulb location where you have a LED replacement. So 1 wired in resistors on each rear bulb and installed bulbs with built in resistors on the front. Here is a link to the bulbs I used in the front which are plug and play:

I hope this helps.
