In W. Texas, and needed to get a car for my daughter, who was expecting her first baby... Limited budget, but found what looked like a great, low mileage van here (84k), body was clean, no major damage (just usual parking lot scrapes, etc...). Interior was also pretty clean...
Drove well, noticed burning oil smell in van, and from front - none from exhaust, so we have leaky v-covers... Easy-peazy... We buy it...
Get it home, drive for like 3 days, and they start smelling gas - the fuel pump cracked. Right after this, started getting crank, no start intermittently - figuring related to pump.
Replaced pump and tank with a lot of plastic welding and a LONG story i wont get into...
Van started great on the jack stands, testing before dropping. Dropped, added some gas (tank was near empty of course), due to crank no start - and now - no crank at all ..
So that is where i am stuck .
