Recently while coming off of the highway my tranny went into limp mode.
I checked the codes and got an"obd2 - 1776" -aka- (i think) a dtc-47 -
Which is, "Solenoid switch valve latched in LR position".
There were no other codes just a generic obd2 0700.
Im guessing that since my vehicle has 152000 miles on it its probably the SSV getting c*ckeyed in its "chamber" just due to normal wear.
(By what Ive read that happens.)

SOOIm planning on just replacing the valve body.

I have Alldata and have the instructions on how to replace the valve body. Ive never done one but i work at a garage with a veteran mechanic (over 30 yrs) he's not ever done one in a 41te either. Im just doing a bit of research before we dig in and wondered if theres anything Alldata hasnt told us.
Im pretty sure Im gonna need to relearn the TCM, a buddy of ours has the comp. to do that with.

Alldata says, "push Park Rollers from Guide Bracket" .
Also Alldata says, "To ease installation of the valve body , turn the manual valve lever fully clockwise."
And "Guide park rollers into Guide bracket , while shifting manual lever assembly out of the installation position."
Im not so clear on what all this means but maybe once its all in front of me itl will be.

Is there Anything else I should Know??

Any kind of clearer explanation of the directions i have would be appreciated.

THANKS !!!

When you do this, post some images.I am sure next to torque converter failure, the next scariest thing for any 41TE owner is Shift selector switch failure, which is no easy uncrew/reinstall job like the in/output sensors are.

Isnt the SSV just a valve in the valve body? If thats the case then by what ive read in Alldata, replacing the whole valve body assembly is not that big a deal. $220 at the dealer for the unit. I was just trying to get a cleaarer picture on what to expect in removing and then installing the valve body. Assuming the SSV is located in the valve body.:ask_wsign

Nope you are not. First you need to get a PROPER scan. You need to get to a dealer or some place with a scan tool that can get into the trans computer. The valve body does pretty much nothing on this trans. My guess is you had a sensor failure or hard part failure
I second Underthehood. These trannys are "smart". You can connect a scanner (not OBDII) to it and it will tell you ALL kinds of things about the tranny status. Stop by a COTTMAN, and the dealer (2 opinions), or 2 dealers, get them to "print-out" the report from the scanner. It will tell you if you need to remove the "guts", or not. :thumb:

" DO NOT go to a AA*** " They will disassemble your tranny to analyze it and then you're stuck with them fixing it (or carrying it home in a BOX).

I went through the diagnostic tree on alldata and that is where i came to the conclusion of replacing the valve body.it ays if there is a DTC 24 present then its an electronic issue. there was no dtc 24.

Maybe but I still would NOT rip in to the unit based on this. I would still opt to get a PROPER diagnostic from someone who knows what they're doing before I dropped any coin for what may be good money after bad

well i brought her to a good tranny shop just in case i was wrong about my diagnosis. I didnt get any codes except the 1776 and according to alldata that means one thing without other codes- a valve body... the shop replaced the soleoid pack. Ive driven her on the highway and all around about 3 hours driving so far and so far so good.. im impressed. I will keep you updated if i have any issues from here on out.... Thank you all for your comments...

Are you calling the solenoid pack a "valve body"? If so you're way off.
