I have a 2016 Dodge Grand caravan with a 3.6 l pentastar engine the other day about a month ago I guess it started kicking for no reason I just bought the vehicle at 97,000 mi at about 100,000 miles is when the tick started didn't think a whole lot of it but I go on road trips a lot with it with my family and after a few more road trips after taking started keeping in mind that I'd keep my oil and coolant perfect at all times in any lubrication factors of any sort up to par 100%. So after a few more trips back and forth from our road trip so we go on I started noticing that the ticking was a lot louder and that the noise that actually changed a little bit to almost a tap or not or a deeper sounding ticking or tapping noise maybe is what it could be considered as anyway the other night I was driving down through my town and I was about 3 mi away from a Dodge dealership when I started having loss of power I already knew that I had maybe a pinhole in my reservoir tank for my coolant but had been filling it up with water and antifreeze every day every single day I was losing at the end there it started out a little bit at a time you know half a gallon maybe a quart and it ended up where I would have to add like a gallon at a time but I did it every day and kept it full completely full 100% to where the reservoir cannot hold any extra and the I would check the radiator as well and it would be full so coolant wasn't a problem and the issue as far as I can tell got the oil changed twice at a reputable oil change place here in my town they were reported no problems except that they heard the sound that I heard too the ticking or tapping or whatever knocking on it so I'm going through my town the other night and I started noticing the oil pressure light it's kind of flickered a little bit and the temperature was running about one and I'm sorry 2:20 to 2:30 somewhere in there and I knew that was hot so I stopped check the coolant coolant was fine both was full reservoir was good and of course the radiator had some in it too as well cuz the reservoir I just like 2 hours before made sure I filled it up so as I'm going down the road I started losing pressure when the light flickered a little bit for the oil pressure and the check engine light came on and everything and then I had almost a complete loss of power well just by chance I was within about 3 mi of the Dodge dealership in my area so I dropped in it was like 3:00 in the morning I drove it in parked it the next morning as I pulled in the to park at that morning after noticing the loss of power and all that stuff had ran hot since I noticed the really extreme temperature change in the flickering of the oil pressure light then I pulled into the Dodge dealership turned it off and as I turned it off I'm sitting there waiting on Uber to go home so I could get with the Dodge dealership the next morning about what was going on and as I was standing there waiting on my Uber the engine the engine started dumping all of the oil and coolant from the motor from underneath at this point it was scalding hot I had the hood raised and it was so hot that I couldn't touch the dipstick it was almost glowing hot the oil was completely burned up you couldn't even get a good reading on the oil amount because of the fact that it was so hot shortly after as I was waiting on my Uber it started just dumping all of the oil and the coolant together from what I could tell if they were both leaking and so I talked to the people the next day at the dealership and he said that there is a problem with the oil pump on those and that he was going to start by checking or replacing the oil pump and then going from there keep in mind I have an 18,000 mi warranty or an 18 months drivetrain warranty on this vehicle only bought it 4 months ago like I said we do a lot of road trips back and forth from Birmingham Alabama from where I live I'm still within 700 miles of my warranty as I turn my motor off that night as when I was parking it and their service area I heard a squealing in the bearings of some sort I don't know if it was the guides on the Pistons or or what it was that was squealing but it started squealing right before I turned off but so that's why I turned it off I got in the parking space real quick and I flipped it off not knowing it hadn't it wasn't showing inside and it ran scalding scalding hot it was still saying like 225 or 2:30 something which I know is hot but it's not like you know catastrophic failure hot but anyway I turned it off got out check the oil pressure I mean check the dipstick and couldn't get a good reading because obviously it was so hot that the oil was still boiling inside or something and I just couldn't get a good reading so as I'm sitting there waiting on my Uber again it started dumping all this stuff on the ground I'm still within my warranty and the guy tells me the next day that the only thing that they can do is that the main problem that happens with those motors that makes them do what they think it happened with mine is that the oil pump goes bad on I said okay so it went bad that would obviously lead to some kind of catastrophic failure on the inside of the motor as far as guides and bearings and roller and rocker arms things like that because it got so hot because of the oil problem or the oil pump problem my question is does anyone does anyone or has anyone had this problem and did it cause further damage to the motor and I need some advice on what to do and where to stand at the dealership because they're saying that all they're going to do is change the oil filter or mail sorry not the oil filter but the oil pump and then go from there and with me having only like I think maybe between 5:00 and 700 miles left on this warranty I'm afraid they're going to do this and it's going to fix a problem temporarily but my gods and bearings inside the motor on the crank are already worn out because of the problem from the pump failing and they're going to send me out with a running motor not paying attention to the bearings and stuff or whatever it is that with making the squealing noise and my last five or 700 miles of my warranty is going to expire and I'm going to be stuck with a bad motor in them you know getting away with not fixing my vehicle I need advice immediately I want to do please please help any advice would be great.

Maybe Philz is saying "oil pump" but the tech actually said "oil cooler"
The ticking may be unrelated...and rockers
Metal screeching? Bad news.
Can't give any advice on the aftermarket extended warranty
Too much going on here to follow

Paragraphs, some paragraphs would be extremely helpful.

From what I could gather, OP needed to constantly add coolant, not sure why though. Maybe oil too. It's quite possible coolant was getting into the oil and things escalated from there. Or he run low on both the oil and the coolant.
In any case, I would take full advantage of that warranty and not exceed the miles, even if they claim it has been fixed. Chances are they will band aid this, hoping OP goes over the warranty mileage and then it's not their problem.
