Was doing a tire rotation and general inspection today. I noticed something odd about the driver side subframe bushing. There’s a gap in between the bushing and the subframe. This gap is not present on the passenger side. Videos online show that both gaps are the same (there isn’t supposed to be a gap).
I have noticed a thumping type noise over certain bumps and road conditions mainly on the driver side, this could explain why.
I’m nervous to tighten the bolt with a lot of force because it’s a bit rusty. The last thing I want is this bolt to snap on me. I don’t think it’s rusty enough to break but I don’t want to find out. I did spray penetrating oil on it then proceeded to loosen and tighten the bolt a few times but I wasn’t able to close the gap, it keeps getting tight around the same spot. I used a long 1/2” ratchet but didn’t use that much force.
Also, I measured the total thickness of the various layers of the bushing and got 9.9mm on both sides.
So, does anyone have any thoughts or advice for me? Thanks
