I have a '96 Grand Caravan with the 41te transmission. I recently installed a transmission from an '02 Grand Caravan, because the differential in the original, crapped out. I swapped over the speed sensors, and solenoid pack, because they had recently been replaced. I didn't like certain shift characteristics in the replacement transmission so I decided to swap the valve body from the '96 tranny, into the '02 tranny, because I figured it wouldn't hurt. The two valve bodies appear identical, but I noticed the newer valve body had an extra spring in one of the pistons. Does anybody have any idea what the added spring is for, and if it's needed when I install the '96 valve body in the '02 transmission? Thank you.
