How do you separate the cover from the light? When Mine was smashed, I couldnt get the cover to release from the light assembly.

I am not sure on this model, on other models people heat them in the oven at a lower temperature ( example: 120F), but I had planned on covering the parts I don't want to change with tape or vaseline, then spray tint the rest.

You should leave the retroreflector on the side unpainted so it doesn't make your tail invisible from certain angles in the dark. But masking in the lights does seem like a good looking idea.

I had every intention of doing that to mine. I was just going split them and paint the inner, leaving the tails, reverse light, and reflector unpainted.

Never got around to it though, now I am just thinking on smoking them out because let's face it, these lights are obnoxiously bright anyway.
