Interesting management decision at Ford at the time. Lives and injuries came second, it was less expensive to pay the lawsuits than fix the defects. They became famous for that decision and similar ones. I was a Ford guy but not after the Pinto.

Almost feels similar now in some ways.

The 10 speed transmissions are garbage, every engine they make they insist on using a rubber belt to drive the oil pump, and have they finally fixed the timing chain problems after 30 years yet? Not sure.

It's like, how many recalls are you going for? Probably on world record pace.

How about their award winning 5.4L V8 with the dang HOLLOW CAMSHAFTS. Ka-SNAP !

I've known people with 5.4L engine and SNAPPED CAMS ! And at a prior company I worked for, I tried to tell a person with one in their truck to dump/sell it. 4 months later Ka-SNAP !

Then you know what happened NEXT, those stupid Ford engineers came to MOPAR and made a 2nd generation of Ka-SNAP engines . . the 3.7L and 4.7L. It is the only reason why we spend the extra money and got the HEMI.

Pretty sure everyone, but especially ford, forgot how to make good V8's after the 90's. Or at least they piled on enough crap to explode them prematurely so people stopped getting 300k+ easy miles out of their abused ford 351's and chevy 350's.

I guess people like AFM/DFM deleted LS engines, but I don't see where to stab in a distributor, so I wouldn't know... Although, I think you actually can on that Vortec 8100 496, so sooner or later I guess I'll have to get one and find out.

My pre AFM 6.0 just works every day. Actually both of my 6.0 LS engines are pre AFM. The express vans didn't get it. I dumped the yukon before it had trouble.
