Sorry for 2 post right off the bat but we are chasing this rat of a problem down and if anyone else has these problems, I'm sure they would appreciate the run down of problems LOL

Never had a lick of trouble with the transmission... until the CEL came on! Code reader says its P0700 and P0755 $435 later for a new solenoid pack (at a transmission shop) codes still showing, shop says "Well I guess it wasnt the solenoid, you need to take it to the dealership, that will be $435 please" urgh!

Took it to another transmission shop today and they pulled the same codes saying that either the wiring to the solenoid isnt working or we got a defective solenoid. I have a feeling its the wiring because my husband tried wiring the fan sensor into the TCM lines (at the time, he had no clue that was the TCM lines!). So now we are at the "Troubleshoot which wire it is" problem is, we cannot find a wiring schematic for the TCM, any one know where one can be found? He use to do this type of thing in the military so I know he can do it, he just needs something that shows which wire goes to what since there are so many wires. Also can we just buy a new TCM wiring harness? And where?? I think it would be a lot easier to just replace since the harness is pretty old anyway!

700 is general transmission requesting the SES light and 755 is shift solenoid B malfunction. Since the pack was replaced, I would check the resistance in the wiring harness between the TCM and pack. Other than that, it would be a computer error or an internal transmission problem.

Get a Haynes manual for your make/model/year vehicle. :thumb:

Become friends with your "Local Wrecking Yard" (HomeDepot for the auto mechanic).

You can pick up a FULL harness there, and possibly the TCM, incase you burned it out plugging the fans to it. :jpshakehe  :Wow1:

The part was changed on 12/31/08 so about 2wks ago, its not clearing at all : / And yes, everything seems fine other than still in limp mode! I'm going to call junk yards today.

ETA: We do have a Haynes manual, hubby looked through it last night but didnt see anything for the TCM but I looked today and do see some with the TCM on it, just need to find which page the solenoid is on?

You may want to check with the mechanic that changed the solenoid pack. A Transaxle Quick Learn Procedure is recommended after, among other things, changing the solenoid pack. This is done with a DRB scan tool. My guess is that this proceedure resets the shift points to their original factory setting as a starting point for the transmission to readapt to your driving style using the newly installed part. Whethter or not the transmission will automatically go to limp mode without this done, I have no idea.

I called the transmission shop and they said they didnt have the computer do reprogram it that only a dealership can do that, then got into an argument with the guy about if the solenoid pack was broke to begin with (I dont believe it was) Then he went on to tell me how they can hook up directly to the solenoid pack They told me it was more of a change the part and see if it fixed it the day I took it up there!! This place USE to be pretty honest but I've now seen the light!

Which I understand they need to make $$ too but I explained to them before they even popped the hood that my DH had wired into there and possibly messed something up but they assured me a brand new solenoid would fix the whole problem but when it didnt they certainly asked for all the $$!

Interesting they can plug directly into the solenoid...

Have you tried calling a Dealer to see if they can diagnose the TCM excluding the wire harness (plug directly into) and the solenoid excluding the wire harness (yes...)? One of the three arn't working right. If diagnostics can be plugged directly into each unit, you'll eliminate the harness from testing. If each unit tests ok, it's the harness. The section of harness affected by splicing (ie wires from the TCM to the solenoid) can be rewired.

If the spliced wires run from the pack to the TCM, it seems most likely a TCM-got-screwed issue.

Sorry. The link got messed up ... too many copy and pastes, I think. Try this link and try the same process as listed previously:

Hubby checked all the wires and it doesnt appear to be the wiring harness. He's going to post tomorrow about what he did and what he found because I really have no clue. I know a relay on the drivers side (in the fuse box) wasnt reading the right volts. Urgh why does it feel like chasing a rat down?

Oh, if its the TCM, is this best to buy new, rebuilt or junk yard? I'd like to keep this van for as long as possible, dont want to get a new one until we can save up the $$, would like for it to last at least another year! So I'm kinda afraid to buy junk yard then have it go out a few months down the road so maybe rebuilt? or new?

Anyone buy from this site? http://www.autocomputerexchange.com/Product/718

Perhaps all those other Chrysler products in there will give it a pep talk.

Seriously, good luck and success with the repair. :thumb:

Urgh turned out to be the TCM! It was $400 installed...
Crap. Sounds like I may be in the same situation. Our 2001 T&C went into limp mode with P0700 code. I did some research online and narrowed it down to a most likely failed transmission solenoid (an educated guess, just like your shop made). So I ordered a replacement and did the repair myself. That didn't fix the problem, so I replaced the input speed sensor, even though I had my doubts. Still no fix. So I am planning to take it to a transmission shop to have the codes pulled from the TCM (from what I understand, the TCM stores its own transmission-related codes and sends P0700 to the ECM/PCM as a notice that there is a problem). I was beginning to think either there is a wiring problem, which could be, as we have mice nesting under the hood, or the TCM itself is bad.

It is bad. They have torn up the inside of my Neon (they come in through the A/C moisture drain tube). I can clean it out but they come right back. I need to find a way to keep them out! I am going to try peppermint oil since they supposedly don't like the smell. Believe me, they have me annoyed to no end!:angry1:
Well, as long as you don't park your vehicle in the same spot and let it sit there for a while without being moved you shouldn't have *too* large of a problem... unless your area is literally infested with rodents...

I think they see it the other way (their area is infested with humans). We live in the country, surrounded by oak trees (food and coverage) and farms (more food and coverage). They reproduce faster than you can kill them.

I'm not sure, I called today and the guy said something may have been unplugged when they were fixing the brake light issue? I pulled the IOD fuse in hopes to clear the memory, the "Service Engine Soon" light went out (prior it was the Check Engine light so this light was different i think) but speedometer, gas gauge and odometer are all not working.

I take it in tomorrow morning to have them fix that now!
