What's the mileage on your 5th generation?

Since the 3rd and 4th generations have a thread about mileage, and I just hit a milestone on my 2009, I decided to start this thread for 5th generation owners.

I hope the "High Milers Club" still exist, I want to get the 200,000 mile license plate frame.

454,000 miles on my 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT. Original 4.0 engine and original 6 spd trans.
Wow. I thought my 2008 3.8 with 242,000 was alot.
Thanks! Your van sounds nice too - and 199,700 miles is still a pretty decent amount. Coming back from a 10 day road trip means it's pretty reliable too.
With my 454K van, I made sure I followed the recommended maintenance schedule. I feel the 60K trans flushes are important, as are the 100K timing belt changes. Also, I try to take off easy, and when I drive off-highway - I usually drop the gear selector down to 5th gear; while on the highways I leave it in D (6th). I did find that as my tranny got older, I sometimes had to manually shift it to help it out (i.e., like going up a hill - I would manually downshift to 5th rather than let the computer do it). The 4.0 w/ 6 speed trans is a really great combination. Always make sure your engine oil + cooling liquid are up to the level where they should be.

Yes - thank you - 242,000 is a nice mileage too. Just make sure you always keep an eye on your oil / coolant levels, and take off easy from stops. You'll be at 300,000 before you know it!
My 2011 just turned 219,000 and we are driving from Ohio to Florida in 2 weeks. I'm glad we bought that lifetime warranty.
2015 T&C 82000 miles......no issues...so far. just changed spark plugs....runs great.....except all that clunking in the back....??? I had a GC loaner did the same thing....whats up with that clunking back there?
2012 TC w/ 103k miles. The tranny blew up in spectacular fashion around 90k miles and left me stranded on the road and $3,800 poorer.

Yeeeessshhh! My 2016 T&C needed a new trans at 69k.
What's with these Chrysler transmissions anyway/??
220,000 on my wife's 2011 Limited. We are driving it to Tampa, Fla in the morning from here in Ohio and leaving my 2015 Murano in the garage. Is the "High mileage" tag holder still available?

No, they have discontinued that program.

I have over a million miles on vehicles with Chrysler transmissions. Never had one fail.
I bought my 2009 GC just under 3 years ago with 214k on it. I mostly retired it as my work vehicle with 407k on it. Still runs well, but I needed something a few less miles on it, so I bought another 5th gen; this time a 2014 RAM C/V Tradesman with 128k on the clock that had been a DirecTV installation van all its life.

Good luck on that one.

DirectTV installers drive on very rough roads. Make sure you check suspension.

Wow that's real bad! The only positive is that the rebuilt transmission has a 3 year/100k mile warranty. Once it goes, the van is headed to the scrap heap. Honda transmission are crap as well, but I've never had a Toyota tranny fail (nor known anybody who has). Sienna will be my next van for sure.

Check how your second row seat belt latch is situated on the seat belt. If wrong, it will bump against the side. I noticed that first on my 2016 GC and twisted it around. No more of that bumping noise. May as well check your other seat belts too.
Good luck on that one.

I have put a few thousand miles on it since purchase, including 1000 miles on the way home. It could use shocks and struts, but it tracks straight with no clunks. The previous operator was a smoker, against company policy, so it kind of reeks. The brakes were shot, so I wound up getting the front brakes serviced right after I picked it up. Other than that, and a couple of acorns in the blower motor's squirrel cage, it's been great so far.

Next time you visit a motel, ask one of the maintenance guys to let you use their O3 generator overnight, they probably would if not using it. That would kill cigarette odors very well.

If someone jumps on this thread and tell you not to do it because it would damage plastic trim in your vehicle, just don't listen, it would take a very long time of use to cause any damages.

Good luck.

Try Nilodor, it's about $15 on Amazon...

Works well for all sorts of nasty odors, like smoke and vomit...

I got rid of my 2008 GC & just bought a 2012 SXT w/ 131000. This van is nicer & more solid than the '08, or it seems that way to me, love it.
2009 Grand Caravan SXT 4.0L w 6 speed. Purchased with something like 120~130k miles on it

Currently just over 180k miles. My son is driving it about 100 miles day so the miles are going to add up.

I did have to replace a solenoid in the trans, cheap fix.

Our first Caravan, a 1999, hit over 202k miles with no trans problems. That was the car that I discovered that my wife drove like she learned from her father - shift into reverse, and while the car was still moving, shift into Drive.

Now that she knows better, I don't expect any major problems with the trans :)
