Neat that they do that, but the wheels offered at Tire Rack are the wrong offset. They offer 42, 35, 34... The factory spec is 40. This will adversely affect handling in corners. Fine if you drive like a blind grandpa, but if you drive normal speeds, you'll eat some tires with a skewed offset.

The 17" and 19" wheels and trims from Dodge journeys are a direct fit.

Offset being different several mm each way isn't a problem. If you are going to a wider wheel/tire, offset changes are often needed to maintain clearance on the inside to the strut or other things. People change offset all the time with new wheels and issues don't arise, until you've got some goofy looking stanced thing.

It affects the center point of the tire, which will at minimum increase tire wear while turning. If severe enough it can affect handling in turns.

True, wider wheels do require a different offset. Not just for clearance, but to correct for the moving of the center point of the wheel.

The choice is each person's own to make, but know that you may be changing the handling characteristics of your van if you go with a different offset.

An offset different from original will place loads on the wheel bearings that are greater than design allows. Our company designs and tests automotive wheel bearings. We don't design them any more robust than is necessary for the application. Any change in design, such as you propose with the offset, may result in a short bearing life.

Agreed, but many even use wheel adapters without a problem.
