2005 T & C beeps when driver door open, power locks won't work

Last night I suddenly started getting the warning beeping when the driver's side door is open (as if the lights were on). I can't get it not to happen. I also can't use the power locks (niether door button nor key button) for about 3 minutes or so after I get out. I tried to find something to explain this in the manual, but didn't find anything. Anyone have an idea what's going on?

Sounds like your ignition cylinder is malfunctioning. When you open the door it is beeping because it believes you have left your keys in the ignition. It is the same reason it will not let you operate the locks (prevents you from locking your keys in the car).

There is a limit switch in the key cylinder. Must be stuck/jammed.

-or- remove your keys from the ignition !!.... lol <just kidding>

Update

I jiggled the key a little while it was in the ignition, and when I took it out, the beeping didn't occur. However, the 2nd or 3rd time after I turned the van off, it started up again. So, now it seems to be coming and going. I will call the dealership tomorrow. I've had it for less than a month, and it has around 2K miles on it.

Thanks,
