If the sensor is dirty, air won't clean it. Either the junk is magnetic or grease and will need to be physically wiped off.

 

Doesn’t sound like a dirty sensor is a possible cause here. But who knows.

 

It's a range/performance code. Anything that interferes with the normal output of the sensor can be a cause. Could be anything from a metal flake stuck to the sensor to a glitching ABS module. Best to clean and inspect and then go from there. If all looks good and the sensor was clean, replace the sensor.

 

Yeah, cheapest is to try to clean it first. It’s all ice here now and the only jack that I have is the emergency jack that comes with the vehicle. We’ll see.

 

PS. Most of the sensors come with a package of something. A grease? What is it and how and where to apply it?

PS2. Do the older version of the sensor work on the 2014 as well? For example for my 2014 it shows that the part should be 68128181AC. Looking at my local part sites for Chrysler 2011+ they show OEM numbers 4721561AE and 68032194AA.

 

I get 68128181AC as the correct sensor. That's for '12-'20. Those others are for '08-'11.

The grease goes around the sensor head to help it go in the hole. No idea why they sent so large of a packet. Looks like it could do all 4 twice and still have some left. Most will send dielectric grease, but given the color that's not it. It's good to put a bit of dielectric grease in the connector to keep out junk, but don't do it with that stuff.

Today I did some diagnostic and figured out that I get the ABS and TCS light when having a harder right turn and OBD then showing:

 

I have had a bad/worn wheel hub bearing cause an abs code.

Interesting note, many of the wheel hub bearings on rockauto also include the abs sensor.

 

Was the hub bad with no signs and no sounds/noises while driving?

 

One of my previous vehicles had a tendency to get slush and frozen crap built up around the hub area which messed with these sensor readings. I had to either go to a car wash and have the underside washed or pour hot water over the area (after knocking out the mass) to get it working right again.

 

Wheel speed sensor was replaced and problem fixed.

 

PS. How can I clear the manufacturer defined ABS code? Clearing codes with my OBD dongle doesn't clear it.

 

It should. You can only clear codes when in Run but with the engine off. Maybe a bad dongle?

 

I’ve been able to clear other codes with that dongle before. Abs and traction control lights are off. Both features are working and wheel speed sensor is reporting correct rpm.

 

Are you looking to clear the stored code? If the lamp is off, there are no active codes and there is no problem. Some scanners will only clear stored codes related to engine/transmission.

Yeah, looks like a stored/confirmed code since I had the ABS sensor issue. I’ve been able to clear comminication codes with OBD Fusion and the dongle. Maybe need a special scanner tool to clear ABS codes? Shouldn’t they clear automatically if the light isn’t on and the issue is fixed?
As it can be seen from the picture there’s no description of the code. It says manufacturer defined.
