Alternator Decoupler Pulley Noise

Thanks to the a/c noise post, I know that I have a bad alternator decoupler pulley, and a friend who has a 2005 has it too. Time for a pulley party!

Gates has a video on alternator pulleys. I must be a car geek since I watched the whole thing and learned something new.

And since I have a tool obsession, I ordered the Lisle alternator decoupler tool kit. Any comments on its quality?

Depending on your mileage, and how long you plan on keeping the car, you might want to just go ahead and replace the alternator. If you get a Chrysler rebuilt, it will come with a new pulley.

It only has 90,000 miles so I thought go with the pulley. I enjoy working on my vehicles when I can.

Thanks for that link. Interesting pricing and makes want to see what my local dealer is charging for the same parts...

90K miles... I'd change the alternator. Less work on the front end and probably in the future.
