I replaced the right front brake caliper on my 2002 GC Sport yesterday after the brakes heated up and were causing problems.

The remanufactured caliper had the name TruStar on the box. It's an aftermarket caliber purchased through a Chrysler Dealership here.
TruStar: http://www.trustarinc.com/

The product was well packaged and included the caliper, two new pins already lubed in the caliper, new banjo bolt, two copper washers, plus a new anti-rattle piece that goes on the outside of the brake caliper.

Normally I haven't seen a new banjo bolt and anti-rattle spring included with a caliper. Two new washers and pins are standard though.

I don't use the new pins as I don't believe they are stainless steel like the OE ones are. I keep reusing the OE stainless steel pins. They clean up like new.

What brand of caliper have you used and what was included in the box.

You should replace the left front caliper because since you changed them both at the same time at 140,000 km's and one gave way at 289,000 km's then the chances are high that the left front caliper will fail soon

That's good advice. I remember a rear brake caliper going south once and it wasn't long after that the other side went south as well.

Actually I will be putting a new backer plate on the right rear of that van in the next week or two, along with a new hub and will likely do the same replacements on the left side.

Thanks for mentioning the mileage from another Thread (140,000 kms and 289,000 kms). Those previous calipers were Mopar OE calipers. I had intended to include that info.

I wonder why Chrysler keeps using non-metal pistons in their brake calipers. They had a serious problem with the Volare and Aspen cars in 76 & 77 where the phenolic or plastic piston would swell and then fail to release the brake after and application. My 77 Volare locked up about 20 miles from home in a parking lot. I had to take the wheel off and pry the caliper open and drive home slowly and carefully. I see that my 2007 T&C also has phenolic pistons and it stuck briefly one day, however, I cannot find find replacements with metal pistons like I did for my Volare.

I'm considering doing all 4 brakes on my 2015 Town and Country touring, brakes were working fine.
I replaced the rear last summer, was feeling a sorta grab and let go sensation when applying brakes on a slight slope. Anyhow, after pads replaced, it was fine.

A few months ago, zip began feeling the same grab n go reaction. I've never had to replace the front pads bcuz the braking, since I bought her in 2022 (64k) was awesome. So I purchased pads for all 4 wheels.

However, I am also giving thoughts to possibly replacing All the Calipers. They have that rust film over them. On my 1999 Voyager and 2005 Town and Country I had horrible experiences with the rust eaten away at the Calipers guide travel. Rust was beginning to interrupt the braking ability, so for now its a thought.

She now has 95k, This week I plan to raise her and check all 4. BUT,, my question is, which brake caliper brand is a great one? I am considering Raybestos, also Detroit Axle,, but I'm not keen on the Detroit brand, if it even is a brand. Can anyone help, thx.

In addition, when replaced rear pads last year, I noticed the old pads weren't really worn, however, they were worn unevenly. This tells me one of the sliding pins has been affected by elements or the pins were not cleaned and lubricated properly, when pads were change. Had some weird brand, OEF3..?
