I started wrestling with wrong transmission shifting a couple months ago. I installed a new solenoid, Nothing. I installed new input and output sensors, Nothing. I bought a good scan tool and cleared my check engine light codes, Nothing. A mechanic finally told me it might be the valve body, I was going to replace that, then my mechanic did a free test drive and said became my transmission stops shifting during driving the clutch is nearly gone. All these issues may work for some people. THEY DID NOT WORK FOR ME. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY THROWING PARTS AT YOUR CAR. I bought a good transmission from the Junk yard for $300 and paid $500 in labor. Problem solved. No need to buy a $2000 new transmission either.

I to Had a trans leak and thought it was the gasket where the solenoid pack bolted to the trans but turns out it was one of the rubber seal/gaskets where the solenoid pack bolts to the black plastic piece that has the wire connections on it! My attempt to repair that problem didnt seem to have worked out so well as the van would no longer shift, it had park, reverse, and what seemed to have been only one forward gear! I installed another solenoid pack and it started shifting correctly again and then this evening all of a sudden it went back to only having Park, reverse, and one forward gear!

Good Morning! Having code P084B thrown and transmission not shifting out of third gear sometimes. Turning off van and restarting clears it. Found this thread regarding solenoid pack and reading through all the threads sounds very similar to my problem. But my van is a 2008. Is this replacement on the '08 the same? Thanks.

What engine do you have?

Under the new body were carryover engines. A 3.3L V6 (175 hp/205 lb-ft) was the default in all trims, and the top-trim SXT could be ordered with a 3.8L (197 hp/230 lb-ft). The 3.3L models got a four-speed automatic transmission (also carried over), but the 3.8L came with a new six-speed automatic.
It seems the solenoid pack is internal to the six speed 62TE transmission (typical), fastened to the valve body per: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKiOyRvwC70

Just to let everyone know my shifting problem turned out to be a bad output speed sensor! Apparently it had been going bad but I haddnt realized what the problem was and while it was parked for me to do the other work the sensor finally killed over for good!

I've read all the way through this and other similar threads. I'm needing to do this for my 2005 Grand Caravan SXT. I'm having a hard time figuring out what part number I need to look for on eBay. Am I correct that I have the A604 41TE transmission? eBay's compatibility tool is saying that some of the listings I'm finding are not compatible with my van even though it lists the part as being for this transmission. The listings I'm finding that show as being compatible are of course the more expensive ones listed and they don't come packaged with speed sensors or other extras.

Can someone add a little clarity or did I just miss something?

Is it just me? But I've read that some of these packs have a separator plate between pack and transmission that re-directs fluid and requires 2 gaskets. I was going to remove mine and clean the screens inside (getting PO740). Hard to see if there is a separator plate or not. Anybody?

Myself I can say that on my 2001 the pack it's self is made up of a medal plate then comes a plastic looking plate that has some resistors soildered on it and then what i assume is the plate that contains the actual valves (this is also the plate that has the screens in it) all of which bolts together then installs on the tranny as one piece! on either side of the plastic plate there are clear looking rubber gaskets! Hope this helps!

Sorry teamsloan I dont have any idea what you part number would be but i imagine that if you had you VIN number and maybe find the number on the trans case you should be able to find what your looking for! this being the only Chrysler that I have ever owned I dont know if certian modles come out with one specific trans or if there are a couple different ones that they can have!

Anybody???

The link you poted is a pic of the sel much like the one the is on my 2001. There is a gasket the sets directly against the transmission that when i tryed to buy one i was told the only way i could get it was if i bought a whole new sel pack so i just made one out of some rubberized gasket paper! That gasket and the two clear looking rubber gasket/seals on either side of the black plastic plate are all that was on mine!

I've seen a plate on other solenoid packs whose only purpose was to mount a silencer housing to reduce the noise coming from the solenoids. There were no diversion channels in them - just a straight-through connection..

That's a good answer, thanks. Maybe it was used on older versions. I think that article was from the early 90's. Both gaskets look the same. I wasn't sure if I needed a second one or not. BTW I bought the gasket from Rockauto. Easier than making one!!

There was one on my daughter's '99 Stratus that a hard foam cover mounted to. I asked a trans shop about it and they said it was common for the 90's models to have them to attenuate the buzzing from the solenoids. I left it out when I changed the solenoid pack and haven't had a lick of problem with it.
