Uconnect hands free-is it worth it?

So I bought a 2015 Grand Caravan SXT to replace my 2010. I thought it had Bluetooth based on the radio-I should have known better.

The hands free unit that would allow me to connect my phone to the uconnect radio is so-expensive ... would it be more advantageous to get an aftermarket radio with apple carplay? Thankfully I can install it myself so the cost is restricted to the parts.

thoughts?

Well, if you buy a new kit from Chrysler, then no it's not worth it. However, if you find parts from a donor vehicle at a salvage yard then absolutely! It's a fairly easy installation too!

I made a long thread about this, Uconnect DIY. If you do grab a module from a donor vehicle, try a 2011 or newer if you can. These units will include BT audio streaming, which your radio is capable of running but it must be a 2011 or newer module. The wiring can be grabbed from any 2008-2019 GCV or T&C.
