2009 T&C MyGig CD/DVD Player

Hello:

I just bought a 2009 T&C and it has the MyGiG radio with Sirius, no NAV. There is also the single DVD screen on the headliner.

Everything seems to work except the CD/DVD player. It will sit there loading. I searched the net and found out about the 3 buttons to push to eject the CD/DVD.

I left a CD loading while I was driving and it started to play about 10 seconds of music and then stopped.

Anyone have this happen to them? What did you do about it?

I could try a cleaning disc.

If the CD/DVD player is bad, I noticed a replacement for the MyGiG radios on ebay for $130 (from Taiwan). Anyone try this?

Another question I have related to the previous one is:

Does the MyGiG radio update(s) have anything to do with the CD/DVD player (built into the radio) working?

I don't know if I should try the updates to see if they could possibly fix the DVD problem (stuck in "reading" mode).

I don't see why the original software would stop playing CD/DVDs, but I have seen software cause stranger things, so I thought I would ask.

Otherwise I'll have to send it out for repairs or buy a new radio on ebay. Seems like repairs are costly, approaching the cost of a used radio.

Haven't had any issues with ours, but we don't use the CD/DVD player much - radio or hard drive primarily.

Maybe take it to the dealership and pay them to figure out what is wrong. It's usually a minimal charge for the check up, and then you will have a better idea. If it's a software update issue, they can do that for you at that time as well.
