If you look at the rear end of the tester with less camo, I think it may have some styling cues of the 2012 Chrysler 700 concept. A little less crazy looking but some nice sleek sheet metal. I'm counting down the days until I see it revealed next month. Its going to look so great, I think I am more excited to see what they came up with in the interior. With so much space to work with the interior is going to great!

Do I see an exposed upper sliding door track?

I saw a pair of these vans while I was out today. I could see the grills behind the black screens and read Chrysler on them.

In the first photo, it looks like the camo has come off after the rear quarter glass. The "D" pillar seems a lot fatter/wider to me, than the current vans. Wonder what that will do for rear blind spots?

In the second photo the door track looks much shorter than current vans. The 5th gens door track ends where the glass ends, again giving me the impression that the new vans "D" pillar is much wider.

It seems odd to me to just end the window like that, with no taper to it, pretty much just a vertical line, and having so much sheet metal instead of glass. Maybe there's more camo going on under there....hopefully.

I saw that fleet in the article fuel up and leave. I figured they were off to CPG.

You would not believe how badly a couple of engineers got chewed out for this picture lmao. And this is just a POS mule with no powertrain.

Looks like the rear bank of the engine is tucked under the steeply raked windshield, similar to the 4th Generation.

It'll be interesting to see in person. It looks like the rear end roof and floor both pinch down a little more than before. I'm hoping it doesn't create a smaller opening.

Of course, the joy of a minivan is the interior (yea, the outside is just a box...they're all about the same) I'm eagerly awaiting to see what they've done to improve the stow-n-go, seats and other creature comforts!

Those side mirrors are definitely Fiat design. They were the first thing that caught my eye about the van, and I personally don't like them. Looks like they were an afterthought, and were just stabbed into the doors. Hopefully it's the camo making them look worse than they are...like the sliding door track.

They are significantly lower. Probably 2 inches less ground clearance compared to a 5th gen.

The rear quarter glass does look like it has some camo underneath the camo. Defiantly a tapered window under there.

And what what you see here will be production. So the mirrors are staying.:)

Less clearance than current would be a disappointment, and almost 2" would be REALLY disappointing!

With my 2000 caravan I could easily make it through a foot or more of snow that was plowed into the driveway. With my current 2011 I learned quickly not to try it with that much snow, especially if it's wet.

Wonder if there will be an aftermarket lift kit for it?:)

I also remember reading on one of the links here that the quarter windows won't open anymore. They're the windows I use the most! I leave them open most of the summer to let the heat out while parked in the drive. Didn't have to worry about leaving them open in the rain as much. They were nice to have open while driving too, as there isn't as much wind noise with them open compared to the other windows.

So far I'm getting kind of bummed about the 6th gen:(. Looking forward to the reveal though, and I'll definitely check it out when my dealer gets some.

Yep. 1/4 panel glass is glued to the body.

If you are that concerned about ground clearance you could always but spacers under the coil springs. I will warn you, this is a very heavy vehicle(4500lbs) and very large vehicle so handling could be compromised.

Chrysler 880 instead of 700? Like the Dodge Coronet 440?

#31 ·
I thought about it for a long time and studied the cartoon "880". I came up with the idea that the first 8 stands for the number of passengers it can hold, which makes sense. And the 8 and 0 "80" means the mpg(e) of 80 mpg(e) for the plug in hybrid version.

you might be on to something, sounds vey plausible

8 speed FWD transmission? I'm almost positive they're getting the 9 speed.

#36 ·
How about I nudge you into the 100% positive zone? :) You are correct, the Gen 6 vans are getting the new 9-Speed transmission.

#35 ·
It could be the warranty.

Dodge had an 880 back in the 60s, a lot of them were station wagons.

Both the new Odyssey and the new Chrysler look fairly similar to me... I'm waiting to see both of them without the cladding once they debut. One of those two models will probably replace our Odyssey in a couple years.

The 880 stands for 8 passenger 80mpge. According to a few coworkers of course.
