2014 T&C Oil Filter Adapter Crack at 20k. Car out of warranty but covered by dealer due to low milage.
Then you have dealers like this one...:ThumbsUp:

Curious...when was the "In Service Date" of your vehicle? Given that you state its a 2014, the earliest you would typically see a '14 model "In Service" would be August/September of 2013...? Based on my calculation you are still under the 5yr/100K mi coverage for Powertrain. Either way, happy for you!

The car was purchased December 2014. Never thought about the powertrain warranty. The dealer gave me the impression that it was a goodwill gesture. This van is one **** of a lemon. Of the five I own, it has the least mileage and the most problems, even the tires had to be replaced at 20k. My 2003 with 200k is the best of the bunch.

So you'd be covered up to Dec 2019...unless you dramatically ramp up the mileage.

Thats too bad the dealer made it seem like they were "taking care of you out of goodwill" when clearly you had plently of powertrain warranty coverage remaining. Again, glad you got it taken care of in the end. Good luck with the other issues though...

Actually, dealer is helping him, many people have problems with dealers not honoring this warranty repair.

Yes, Levy I understand that.

What I was trying to convey was based on what he told us they were leading him to believe they were "taking care of him out of goodwill" since he was low on miles. If they were truly "taking care of him" they would have simply explained that they were covering his failed oil cooler under the Powertrain warranty. Does that help...?

Maybe it was easier for the dealer to just eat the bill than trying to get it approved, who knows?

2014 GC Engine Oil Cooler went

Hi!

Add me to the list. Besides a faulty tire pressure sensor, we have had zero issues with this van. Noticed a leak when we parked in a new spot, drove it home and the engine light came on - all in the same day. Checked under the hood once I got home (just over 5 miles away) and oil was everywhere on the inside of engine. Ugh.

Towed it to the dealer, and he was very Lombard from Office Space: "Yeeaaah, so this isn't covered by your powertrain. So it's going to be 710$". I contacted Dodge Customer care and spoke with the rudest, most condescending man ever - who said his 'decision was final'.

So sad, such an awful experience for my first new car!

The hits just keep on coming...what was their reasoning behind denying the warranty coverage?

I hope Andrea can get this sorted out for you, good luck and keep us posted.

They said that it isn't specifically listed as part of the powertrain. They were very unmoving about it, and then the Dodge customer care guy just kept saying "my decision is final". It was a pretty awful experience. The worst part is, we were about to go up to Nevada from So Cal this weekend, and had it happened during the trip, we would have killed the engine. When I checked it, the oil was almost completely out and the bay was covered in oil. This was after being checked less than a month ago. So frustrating!

And I am so glad that someone posted the link to ChryslerCares (Andrea) - even if there is nothing she can do, knowing there is someone out there who cares really makes me feel a bit better.

I understand completely. Same story here; however, we had a semi-happy ending in that our dealership (a Mazda dealership) ended up just charging us the deductible for what it would have cost if the part were covered under the extended warranty. Chrysler Customer Service was no help, and from the first person I spoke with to the last manager I spoke with, everyone said this was a basic component and not covered under the powertrain warranty. The manager surmised that dealerships must be working with customers to somehow how get the repair covered under the powertrain warranty, but she doesn't know how. My consolation prize was 4 free oil changes, which they didn't have to do. I still wish I understood how sometimes it's covered and sometimes it's not. ?

Here is what my 2014 manual says is covered by the powertrain warranty:

Gasoline Engine:
cylinder block and all internal parts; cylinder head
assemblies; timing case, timing chain, timing belt, gears
and sprockets; vibration damper; oil pump; water pump
and housing; intake and exhaust manifolds; flywheel
with starter ring gear; core plugs; valve covers; oil pan;
turbocharger housing and internal parts; turbocharger
wastegate actuator; supercharger; serpentine belt tensioner;
seals and gaskets for listed components only.

Transmission:
transmission case and all internal parts; torque converter;
drive/flex plate; transmission range switch; speed sensors;
pressure sensors; transmission control module; bell
housing; oil pan; seals and gaskets for listed components
only.
NOTE: MANUAL TRANSMISSION CLUTCH
PARTS ARE NOT COVERED AT ANY TIME.

Front Wheel Drive:
transaxle case and all internal parts; axle shaft assemblies;
constant velocity joints and boots; differential
cover; oil pan; transaxle speed sensors; transaxle solenoid
assembly; PRNDL position switch; transaxle electronic
controller; torque converter; seals and gaskets for
listed components only.
NOTE: MANUAL TRANSMISSION CLUTCH
PARTS ARE NOT COVERED AT ANY TIME.

All Wheel Drive (AWD):
power transfer unit and all internal parts; viscous coupler;
axle housing and all internal parts; constant velocity
joints and boots; driveshaft and axle shaft assemblies;
differential carrier assembly and all internal parts; output
ball bearing; output flange; end cover; overrunning
clutch; vacuum motor; torque tube; pinion spacer and
shim, seals and gaskets for listed components only.

Rear Wheel Drive:
rear axle housing and all internal parts; axle shafts; axle
shaft bearings; drive shaft assemblies; drive shaft center
bearings; universal joints and yokes; seals and gaskets
for listed components only.

I do not the see oil filter housing listed, so it is technically not covered.

What an ill-written list of covered items !! Looks like a copy/paste from some other car's manual - certainly not a T&C or DGC
The faulty oil filter housing isn't mentioned but the turbocharger and supercharger are :nut:
The oil filter assy. should be covered under "and all internal parts"

I can see where the oil filter/cooler assembly might not be considered an "internal" part. What I can't understand, Chrysler knows of the problem with the first ones made, rectified the faulty part, issued a TSB, helped hundreds with this problem, yet force others to pay to replace an admitted faulty part?

Instead of blindly calling my post incorrect, why don't you do some research and find the warranty manual. Here it is:

https://www.mopar.com/chrysler/en-us/care/warranty.html

It covers ALL 2014 Chrysler vehicles. The details are not even in the Town and Country manual. It says "WARRANTY INFORMATION
See the Warranty Information Booklet, located on the
DVD, for the terms and provisions of Chrysler Group
LLC warranties applicable to this vehicle and market."

So the argument is whether the oil filter housing is covered under "cylinder block and all internal parts"?

"Should be covered" doesn't necessarily means it is.

I never meant to call "your post" incorrect - I'm calling the manual you so well quoted ill-written.
I clicked on your link, selected my make/year/model and sure enough my supercharger and turbocharger are covered ... meaningless verbiage

Well it is copied exactly from the 2014 Chrysler warranty book, powertrain warranty section. Maybe they are vague purposely to deny claims, but pretty sure when it was drafted they had no idea the oil filter housings were going to be a problem area. It does specifically say if the part is not noted, then it is not covered, so to those who got the part covered, more power to you!

I just got my 2014 DGC R/T 90,900 miles back today (Built 12-13) for an Oil and Coolant Leak. They had to replace the Oil Cooler. Chrysler PAID FOR IT! And put me in a 2017 DGC Rental FREE for 4 days.
Post #202 made by me. Chrysler paid for my Oil Cooler back in November. I was told if it was built before Jan. 20, 2014 it's covered. Look at Post #185

I am so sorry to ask this, but I checked that post (185) the one with the check image - do you know where the information is posted about being manufactured before 1/20/2014 is? I am having a hard time finding it through the 200+ posts. I am still looking. Just found my mfr date, and it's August 2013. They are fixing it currently at the dealer, was supposed to be done on Friday, but we heard nothing from them Friday or Saturday, even after a few messages were left. Very frustrating ordeal, especially since everything points to the fact that this should have been covered.

Thank you, though! And I will keep looking!
