Spare Tire Mount
GOOD NEWS! Recently purchased a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica AKA Town & Country with the built-in vacuum cleaner option and was disappointed to find there was no spare tire or place to mount it and, to add insult to injury, there is no jack or lug nut wrench either! WHAT THE HAY! Since we plan to take a few vacations out west a spare tire is a must have item, so I purchased the spare tire kit which includes the jack, lug nut wrench and mounting hardware for the cavity located on the driver side rear where the vacuum cleaner is mounted. The spare tire kit does not include the compressor which is standard equipment. Problem is, removing the vacuum cleaner requires removing the main cover panel with access door to the filter and cutting off the vacuum hose chute, then the purchase of a different cover panel! We have grown to love our vacuum, it really is handy and very powerful! I read a blog that stated the spare tire will not fit in the second row seat storage bins, NOT TRUE! Driver Side: Move the front seat all the way forward, open the second row seat storage compartment, place the jack right side up in the recessed area closest to the sliding door, toward the rear of the cavity, next, place the tire with the hub down and center it, using your fingers firmly press the edge of the tire inward to get past a bulge in the cavity that holds it up, once it’s started push it down firmly, this wedges the tire in the storage cavity on top of the jack. Next place the styrofoam insert which holds the lug nut wrench and compressor into the tire, place the compressor in the center of the insert, close the bi-fold cover and latch it, then move the driver seat back in position. The tire is now held firmly in place and cannot be removed without moving the driver seat forward and opening the storage compartment. I showed my 14 year old daughter how to do it and she mastered the task easily. I did not try the passenger side second row seat storage compartment but I’m sure this is a mirror image of the drivers side so that should work there as well.
