Where does the spare tire go?

Does anyone know where the "optional" spare tire goes?

I see there are two panels that open on the left side of the rear cargo area, but the larger of the two doesn't look big enough to fit a spare to me....unless it's a really tiny donut spare.

I'd be surprised if the hybrid has a place to put one, but maybe they left space. For non-hybrids, I'd guess that it goes under the front row floor pan like current.

I remember reading it went to the inside of the van too, that's why I wondered where.

Maybe the same location as the 5th gen, but access to it from the inside...under the stow & go 2nd row bin?

The accessory press release mentions the spare tire kit but not the location.

"Spare tire kit: This essential addition to any 2017 Chrysler Pacifica includes a mounted compact spare tire, jack and jack tools"

Funny that they say it's an "essential addition" but it's not standard.

I was wondering how a spare could fit in that small compartment. I've never heard of inflatable spares, and had to google some videos about them. Would a 12v compressor be included with the spare or just a can of air?

Kind of wish they left it under the van.

The negatives to this van keep adding up for me. Just to throw one out there...moving the wiper controls to a right hand stalk is really going to annoy me. Every car I've owned over the last 20+ years has had them on the left! I'm getting too old to reprogram my brain.:nut:

a spare tire seems to be an option these days because of fuel mileage concerns... I have never even liked the donut spares.....my father was the same way, he put a fullsize spare in his 94 that was gifted to me after his passing.... I would rather take the small hit in fuel mileage as opposed to not having a spare.

Not according to this article: http://bestride.com/blog/spare-tire-solutions/29336/

The all-new Chrysler Pacifica does offer a spare tire. In this case, a compact, inflatable spare tucked neatly inside the rear fender. These spares are deflated tires awaiting pumping by you with the little pump provided. This seems like a much better alternative than the silly kit and will work in the event of a side-wall tear. We should mention, though that the Chrysler Pacifica Limited replaces the tire with a vacuum cleaner (the most powerful in-van vacuum in its class!). You can order a Pacifica Limited with the vacuum deleted, but then you’re the only parent at the PG without one.

Spare Tire Mount

GOOD NEWS! Recently purchased a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica AKA Town & Country with the built-in vacuum cleaner option and was disappointed to find there was no spare tire or place to mount it and, to add insult to injury, there is no jack or lug nut wrench either! WHAT THE HAY! Since we plan to take a few vacations out west a spare tire is a must have item, so I purchased the spare tire kit which includes the jack, lug nut wrench and mounting hardware for the cavity located on the driver side rear where the vacuum cleaner is mounted. The spare tire kit does not include the compressor which is standard equipment. Problem is, removing the vacuum cleaner requires removing the main cover panel with access door to the filter and cutting off the vacuum hose chute, then the purchase of a different cover panel! We have grown to love our vacuum, it really is handy and very powerful! I read a blog that stated the spare tire will not fit in the second row seat storage bins, NOT TRUE! Driver Side: Move the front seat all the way forward, open the second row seat storage compartment, place the jack right side up in the recessed area closest to the sliding door, toward the rear of the cavity, next, place the tire with the hub down and center it, using your fingers firmly press the edge of the tire inward to get past a bulge in the cavity that holds it up, once it’s started push it down firmly, this wedges the tire in the storage cavity on top of the jack. Next place the styrofoam insert which holds the lug nut wrench and compressor into the tire, place the compressor in the center of the insert, close the bi-fold cover and latch it, then move the driver seat back in position. The tire is now held firmly in place and cannot be removed without moving the driver seat forward and opening the storage compartment. I showed my 14 year old daughter how to do it and she mastered the task easily. I did not try the passenger side second row seat storage compartment but I’m sure this is a mirror image of the drivers side so that should work there as well.
